The Isle of Man branch of Santander UK plc is one of the Isle of Man’s largest deposit takers. Our presence in the Isle of Man can be traced back to the 1990’s when the businesses of Abbey National International (ANIL), Alliance & Leicester International (ALIL) and Bradford & Bingley International (BBIL) first opened their doors.
In January 2017, the Isle of Man branch started offering products and services under its trading name of Santander International. The Jersey branch of Santander UK plc also trades under the name of Santander International and together the 2 branches offer the same products and services under the one brand of Santander International.
Santander UK plc
Santander UK is a leading financial services provider that offers a wide range of personal and commercial financial products and services in the UK. Santander UK plc is regulated by the Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK and is part of the Banco Santander Group.
Under the UK Financial Services (Banking Reform) Act 2013, the largest UK banking groups, including Santander UK, must comply with new requirements to ring-fence their retail banking from their other banking activities by 1 January 2019. Under the UK ring-fencing legislation, a ring-fenced bank is restricted from having branches or subsidiaries outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and, as the Isle of Man is outside the EEA, accounts held with our Isle of Man branch will be transferred to another part of the Santander Group. Further information on this ring-fencing is available at www.santanderringfencing.co.uk.
